What is Multimodal Literacy?
Digital Storytelling
Multimodal literacy allows students the opportunity to communicate in a diverse way that is relevant to them. This includes speaking, writing, using images, technology and many other forms to communicate an idea.

There are several pros to using digital storytelling in the classroom. Digital storytelling connects many aspects of literacy and helps students connect with the work they are doing. The idea of writing and reviewing a script along with selecting images, videos, and music all allow for critical thinking and connection. This is also an excellent presentation style for students who are shy. Often students feel more comfortable with a presentation if they are able to prerecord their voice. This is also beneficial for students who may struggle with writing because their final product is their voice instead of a written document.
